The Success Of Web Promos
The Success Of Web Promos
I can remember how excited I was to build my first website.
To know that millions of people around the globe could look at it instantly at the same time was almost mind numbing and of course it was costing me around the price of a good drink.
How times have changed. Now a website that doesn’t leap out at you with “flash” graphics or some fancy video seems really oldfashioned. And that’s the purpose of this article to give a few thoughts on how the web really offers incredible marketing opportunitites but at a fraction of the price of “conventional” broadcasting or published ads.
Firstly let me highlight a few proven facts.
1 You have just a few seconds to retain the interest of web surfers unless they have made a specific point of coming to check out all that your company offers.
2 Web sites that do offer fancy graphics/animation/ video are far more likely to retain the interest of web surfers than just a plain site that doesn’t really do anything. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule and if I for instance was trying to track down a good lawyer I wouldn’t expect his site to leap out at me graphically. I would expect it to be rather boring and formal and official looking. HOWEVER if he has a poorly designed site that might equally put me off employing his or her services.
3 Web commercials can be really inexpensive and highly successful.
Let me talk about web commercials and why I think they are an amazing opportunity and why I am now devoting more and more of my time to making them rather than producing regular TV shows.
So what is a web commercial? Well it can come in many forms. It can look like a conventional TV advert but plays on your web site. It can be an actor simply talking about your site or services. It can be just an anonimous voice that talks about your site and services. Or it can be an actor using virtual backgrounds that enhance your services.
So for instance on the latter point if you are offering the next “get rich quick” scheme it could be an actor talking about what you offer in a virtual studio and with attractive graphics of dollar bills flying around.
Now let’s look at the vast marketing potential. That commercial that we have just talked about is potentially available 24/7 for evermore! It can be seen anywhere in the world at any time of the day and night and might have cost you less than 100 to produce.
Secondly don’t just think about a web commercial as being limited to just your web site.
I have read and I haven’t fully checked the numbers that there are now more than 200 major sites where you can upload your video. So think about that. Your commercial for ‘Joe’s clothes” could also be running on 200 other sites free of charge “for evermore” too!
Next up filling a niche. There is a guy in New Jersey who sells wine and puts out a daily broadcast about the wines he sells. Every time he does that sales of the drink increase. He also has more than 20000 regular viewers which now also gives him sway with potential sponsors. So in other words he is now in a position where somebody else will be willing to pay for product placement in those commercials he has developed a devout audience that never would have been available before the invention of the internet AND things can branch out in all manner of ways… TV appearances columns in magazines a mainstream TV show his own wine sales continuing to grow…. and all for an initial investment of next to nothing.
So in conclusion my advice is simple web commercials are the future and all businesses should take advantage of the rich rewards they offer.
